The La Macarena Botanical Garden is a reserve for maintaining, protecting, and studying the existing fauna and flora. The scientific study of the flora in the reserve shows the presence of more than 1100 native species, which amounts to more than 4 percent of Colombian biodiversity.

If there is still the presence of a livestock farm as a practice of more environmentally friendly coexistence, it is to demonstrate that it is possible to mitigate the impact of the cattle and benefit from their presence to develop fertilizers with local microbiology for gardens with biological products.
