The botanical garden has in its 700 hectares more than 4% of the Colombian plant biodiversity.
It is an ecological reserve, a center for the study of flora and fauna.
Center for the study of the relationship between humans and nature. Pilot agroecological center with farm, livestock, biofactory, orchard, and nursery.
Through natural tourism, the experience of the botanical garden and the region is shared and managed.

OUR MISSION
Strengthening the concept of interdependence between nature and human beings. The La Macarena Botanical Garden aims to be a space where conservation, study, wisdom, and action come together.
Eco-tourism is part of this vision. We need to manage new technologies in this changing and accelerating world. The Amazon rainforest needs us because we also have the transgenerational responsibility to act to maintain and develop the conditions for conservation, study, and coexistence, allowing nature and humans to continue enjoying peace together.
Our Vision
Globalization turned the world into a village and the jungle into a small forest. Latin America still has a significant share of the world's jungles, which gives Colombia a special place. The jungle and its biodiversity are in danger. Humans are the main actors in its destruction, but they fail to understand that the jungle is part of their home, Mother Earth. The Amazon needs us to defend it against destruction. In fact, we need it. Taking care is much more than doing nothing, not touching. Wisdom and intelligence mean nothing without action.
Since there are so many of us, we could also make a difference. No society, no environment.
